American Airlines Business Class Review A330 PHL to ATH
My journey to Athens first started in Chicago at ORD. We arrived in Philadelphia at 11am but our flight was not until 4pm. So we actually left the airport and made our way to downtown Philadelphia. We visited the Liberty Bell and had a cheesesteak at Gino’s. We then made our way back to the PHL airport.
We visited the lounge in Terminal A West. This was a decent sized lounge. When we entered the lounge and we were given two drink tickets each and the code to the WIFI. The lounge has an area for coffee, some soup and a vegetable bar. There was nothing appetizing here to eat. I then made my way to the bar and got some drinks. They had two bartenders at the bar and the staff there was very friendly. The lounge has a small business center with two computers, mini-cubicles and a printer.
We made our way to the gate. There was a 1 hour delay for a mechanical issue so we had to wait in the gate area. Once we were finally let in for boarding, the gate agents did a poor job of announcing who was ready to board. It was a total disaster.
The American Airlines Business Class configuration on the A330 is 1-2-1 so everyone has aisle access which is great. I choose seats 2C and 2D. These are great for couples. The hard product was very good. The seats were wide, I slept great, and the TV size was good. There was an AC power slot and USB, reading light and control for the IFE system. The IFE system has a good selections of movies, TV shows, games and a flight map. The table tray was a good size. The only bad thing about the seat was that there was not a lot of storage.
The service was decent. It was about what you would expect for a U.S carrier. The American Airlines flight attendants which efficient and friendly but not over the top like some of top airlines. You were give a basic amenity kit but a huge plus was that it was a leather amenity kit from Cole Hahn. Very nice!
For dinner, I had the almond crusted chicken. It was bland and not very good at all. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was delicious but it’s hard to mess up ice cream.
Overall, the hard product is great. The screens are big, seats are wide, everyone has aisle access and I got some good sleep. Some of the cons was the average service, food and lack of storage for the seats. But if you ever fly the A330 American Airlines business class service, you are in for a good flight!
