Alpine A110 looks like a Porsche Cayman, costs about the same, it has 50 less horsepower, but is over 200 kg lighter. Younger viewers may not remember the Alpine brand, as it was axed back in 1995. However those who do remember it, probably know the original A110, and its rally pedigree.
Alpine history dates back to the 1950s, when a mechanic and racing driver Jean Redele started modifying Renault 4 CVs. Later he used Renault R8 platform, and which was the basis for the original A110 - a sports coupe, which did quite well in rallies in 1970s.
Original Alpine A110 was powered by small, tuned engines, and the cars were light and nimble. Just like the modern version, which depending on the trim weighs around 1100 kg.
