University of Alaska Southeast Assistant Professor of Alaska Native Languages Xh'unei Lance A. Twitchell tells about the program in Tlingit. For students of Alaska Native ancestry, Alaska Native Studies at UAS is a way to connect with the heritage language of their ancestors. For the non-Native learner, it is a way to connect to the land and people of Southeast Alaska. Students of Alaska Native Languages & Studies have a wide variety of post-degree options, including graduate work in indigenous studies and research and teaching opportunities.
