Danny McCanney wins the Hafren BEC
This weekend rounds 5 and 6 of the 2019 ACU British Enduro Championship were in the safe hands of the experienced Hafren Dirt Bike Club. The venue was in Llanidloes Rugby Club and the first 2 riders were flagged away at 9.00am on Saturday morning. The weather was fine. The MX test was a few hundred yards from the start and the Championship class rode the test twice. Outsiders Yamaha rider Jamie McCanney set the fastest times and he led the field into the 40 mile Glyn Hafren loop by 8 second. The cross country test was ridden 4 times. Danny McCanney got into his gulley and he began to make up time in the technical wooded sections that featured in the 2008 World Enduro Extreme test. He returned to the finish in P1. Joe Wootton was runner up and Jamie McCanney was 3rd. Day 2 was a repeat of Day 1 with no sign of the forecast rain. Danny McCanney completed the double and Joe Wootton was runner up. Jamie McCanney retired and Dan Mundell moved into 3rd. Jack Edmondson was 4th and Daryl Bolter was 5th.
