Renaissance lute with inside pickups and amplification possibility As every luteplayer is strugling with the situations where we have to play in difficult acoustic conditions, bigger halls, churches, openair situations etc. we always tried to imagine how to make the lute hearble or even more how to afford what other instruments can enjoy - dinamics, color tones, etc. and not to worry if the lute is heard or not... We can of course try to have a louder lute built but 99 per cent of the public who mostly does not play the lute (we should play for them sometimesJ) will say that there is no lute to sound loud enough in the big halls, open air and ensembles. The microphone is a nice option in ideal conditions but it is hard to have the amp close to the lute thus one loses the natural sounding effect, also it collects other noises which is especially sad when you play in a big group. We were always trying to find a solution because we are absolutely sure that in some ways the lute has to adapt to certain realities of today and being well heard to show the character and emotion of performance which is essential if we do not want to loose it again as it happened in history before. After long time research we developed a way to amplify the lute using piezo pickups positioned in a special way inside the lute. Everyone who tried it knows that the guitar solution having them under the bridge does not work due to the different acoustic features of the lute and its construction. We now are going to develop theorbo, baroque lute and baroque guitar with the same system. This instrument is an 8 course renaissance lute with a scale of 60cm.Tuned in G. It is a regular nice lute, but has piezo pickups inside positioned in two different areas. When connected with a regular jack cable it brings mono signal, with a stereo cable it gives a stereo 2 channel independent signal which can be connected to two channel preamp or two channel amplifier or even two independent amps. The lute sounds nice as a regular not amplified lute, has a natural tone when amplified; a very nice option is when played acoustically but slightly supported by the amplifier in big locations. (best option). Great for ensemble playing since there is no danger of the noise when close to the amp, the amp can sit invisible under the chair. The connection is made almost invisible in the end pin. Although on the demo film you see the connection (we wanted it so) with the certain type of the cable nobody will notice the connection at all!
