7 year old double amputee hopes to meet pen pal at children's amputee convention

It's something most people would look at as a disadvantage, but Kansas City 7-year-old Heidi Burke is using her disability to encourage others. Heidi lost all four of her limbs when she was a little girl, leaving her without her mobility, Recently, she has been Skyping with 9-year-old Ellie from England, also a double amputee. At 2-years-old, Ellie lost all four of her limbs to bacterial meningitis. The two friends hope to meet during the International Child Amputee Network Conference later this month. "It's really good to know there are other people who are almost like me and who have to go through people starting and not being able to do some things. So it's really nice, helpful and encouraging," Heidi said. The Burkes are hoping to raise enough money to help bring Ellie's entire family to the conference in Baltimore.
