Many individuals simply enjoy they raw since they are greatly admired for their pleasant and satisfying taste. Although they do taste great, pistachios are also very nutrient dense and provide man wonderful health benefits for our bodies. As with most nuts and seeds, try to enjoy them in moderation as they can be quite high in both fat and calorie content. Now, lets discuss some of the important health benefits of eating pistachios regularly. 1. First, pistachio nuts are very nutrient dense. Although they are small in size, they provide many different types of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that can promote our overall health and boost our immunity and energy. More specifically, they are rich in magnesium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, copper and zinc. As well, they are great sources of healthy fats, dietary fibre, protein and amino acids. 2. Besides being packed with many different nutrients, pistachios are also extremely heart healthy and can help to promote the overall health of our cardiovascular system. They are well known for helping to decrease “bad” LDL cholesterol levels in the body. Also, they contain potent heart healthy compounds such as phytosterols, antioxidants, fibre and unsaturated fatty acids that can reduce the risk of heart disease. If that wasn’t enough, pistachios are also rich in an amino acid known as l-arginine, which can help prevent the hardening of the arteries. 3. Consuming pistachios regularly can also help to improve digestion and reduce the risk of certain digestive ailments. This is largely attributed to the high levels of dietary fibre found in them, which can add bulk and even promote the digestion of the foods we eat.
