Material Islands
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hippotech.materialislands
One of the most simple, beautiful and material design based wallpapers. Material islands is a mix of thematic wallpapers - so you can set anything basis your mood of time of the year. All these island based wallpapers are rendered from raw code pixel-by-pixel and you get super sharp wallpapers without any sort of pixelation even on extremely high resolution displays like the one I’m using.
These wallpapers are live and they change corresponding to the time of the day. So each walpaper has a morning, afternoon, evening and a night version of themselves which changes automatically.
The app has no overly extra animations and hence is extremely battery friendly and does not even eat up too much of your RAM. It’s a fairly light-weight live wallpaper app for those who appreciate minimal wallpapers.
Google Wallpapers
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.wallpaper
One of my favourite and probably the most breathtaking wallpaper app is the Wallpapers app by Google. Hands down, it’s got the best of views and every time I use one of its wallpapers, it calls out the traveller in me!
It’s got beautiful landscapes, seascapes, cityscape & earth wallpapers that make you want to be there to live that wallpaper in real life. Then there are some life and texture wallpapers that are quite nice and inspired by nature.
But the wallpapers themselves are so extraordinary, high resolution and sharp that they truly immerse you. If you have a infinity display or a full view display on your phone, these wallpapers can really make a hell of a difference.
Google Pixel 2 Live Wallpapers
Download link: https://goo.gl/2zTt4R
The best live wallpapers ever! Period.
The pixelscape wallpapers only came out for the Google Pixel 2 and they are so super amazing that you just have to have it on your phone. As you can see, that the wallpapers are simply mind-blowing with subtle animations that add a wow to your phone’s homescreen.
The app is not available on the Google Play Store and you’ll have to download the installation file from the link that I leave in the description below. Just install that installation file and you’ll find all the pixel 2 live wallpapers in the Live Wallpaper section of Google’s Wallpaper app.
For e.g. this beautiful marble wallpaper that comes in the pack is a LIVE view of the planet from a time point of view with dark areas being where its evening or night and the bright areas being the ones where it’s morning or afternoon.
Resplash
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.b_lam.resplash
Powered by Unsplash, Resplash gives you access to more than 200,000 high resolution photos of people, cities, animals, space, views and what not from around the world. The app in itself is beautiful, minimal and easy to use with options to search for wallpapers around certain keywords and even browse through some collections that are curated by people around the world.
These collections can be sorted by new, curated and featured - so you can see what images are really creating a buzz amongst people.
If you like a wallpaper, just tap on it and you get some info on the image along with option to download set as wallpaper or download it.
Chrooma Live Wallpaper
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamelounge.chrooma_lwp.android
Another material wallpaper app but this time - we are talking Geometric and parallax.
Wallpaper that are purely made of material colors and shapes and tilt as you move your aphone around.
It gets more interesting when a simple shake to your phone changes the wallpaper completely!
Within settings, you get more customization options wherein you can set how quickly you want the wallpapers to change or whether you want to change it on shake.
You can choose the shapes that should appear and even the colors that you want.
You can alter the animation speed and parallax effect as well as animation speeds.
Please note, this app will drain the batter a bit faster than the static wallpaper apps - so use with caution. But I think it’s a pretty interesting wallpaper app to have - at least for some time.
