30-30 Dent at 300 Yards

Trying to get that 2 inch sphere again with the Winchester. I must have just nicked the wire holding it then hit the same place that the 30-06 hit last time. The 30-30 doesn't dent that steel at 300 yards but it sure does look as if that dent is bigger. Maybe since the bullet was forced off center, the dynamics of the hit were more forceful? I was about 1/2 inch high; I adjusted... Now that I think of it, I should have adjusted it one click instead of 2. I think the adjustments are a little larger than 1/4 inch at 100 yards; but the stickiness of the adjustments make it hard to figure. I'll find out next time.
