French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie has set a world record of 6.16m at the Pole Vault All Stars meeting in Donetsk, Ukraine, on 15 February 2014.
Former outdoor world record was held by Sergey Bubka set in Sestriere Italy 1994, with a height of 6.14m. Bubka was also the indoor world record holder with 6.15m. The record has been considered close to unbreakable to this day when Lavillenie proved the opposite. Although Bubka's trainer claimed that he'd jumped even higher on training he was never able to perform those heights competitively.
