Two members of the Newark, NJ police 2nd Precinct resuscitated a 2-year-old girl who'd drowned in a family pool. Shortly before 4:10 p.m. on July 8, 2018, Officers Aziz and Johnson responded to a residence in the 100-block of 3rd Avenue East on a call of a child not breathing after drowning in a family pool. The officers immediately administered first aid, clearing the child’s airway. She threw up ingested food and water before being transported to University Hospital for further treatment. The child has been released from the hospital. Director Ambrose commends Officers Aziz and Johnson for their quick thinking and swift actions in resuscitating the child. “These Officers displayed the character and dedication that every Newark Police Division member is committed to in providing outstanding community service,” he said. “I am proud that these Officers stepped in as if this child was a member of their own family. Today, I speak for the entire City of Newark in giving them our most sincere thanks,” he added. New to the page? Subscribe above!
