1984 Action Day, Saturday 8th June 2013 - When will you Fight Back? http://www.no-cctv.org.uk/action_1984_actionday.asp Saturday 8th June is 1984 Action Day - everywhere. This is the 2nd year of the 1984 Action Day, a day of protest against the Big Brother State timed to coincide with the anniversary of the publication of George Orwell's novel '1984'. Last year it was mainly anti-CCTV activists in Britain and several other European countries who took part. This year we hope other groups and other issues will be involved in the day which is purposefully about all aspects of the war being waged against our freedoms. There are some suggested 'action ideas' on our website (link above). It's all about raising awareness of the Orwellian Big Brother surveillance state being built around us, engaging with the public (and press/media if possible) and getting people to re-think their faulty assumptions about the total surveillance society before it's too late. All done in a variety of peaceful, lawful, creative and artistic ways that can also be fun. As you know, silence is taken as consent, so we aim to document as much resistance and protest as possible. If you'd like to get involved then please do get in touch - there are currently stunts arranged for the UK as well as across Europe which would all welcome your participation - but do feel free to use the day as you see fit. Let's make this a date in the political/media calendar for us!
