1964 Chevrolet C-10 Shortbed Pickup For Sale
This 1964 model utilized a new body style of light pick-up truck that
featured many firsts. Most important of these were a drop-center
ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower, and independent front
suspension, giving an almost car-like ride in a truck. It also used a
new designation system for trucks made by GM. Gone were the
3100, 3200, and 3600 designations for short 1/2, long 1/2 and 3/4-
ton models. Instead, a new scheme assigned a 10, 20, or 30 for 1/2,
3/4, and 1-ton models. The C model designation stood for
conventional drive and the 10 for 1/2-ton. They came in smooth
"Fleetside" or fendered "Stepside" versions; this is a Fleetside.
For this 1964 model, a coil-spring front suspension was employed
that greatly improved the ride and handling. This truck features its
factory original 283 in 3 (4.6 L) V8 with 185 hp. GM modified the cab
for 1964, as well as a new front grille design, along with various
interior changes, while retaining the original design on the body.
This superbly restored example is finished in its factory original
paint scheme, with chrome bumpers replacing the painted ones (a
desirable upgrade). The interior and engine compartment are
detailed and immaculate, making this a show quality truck. It runs
perfectly and looks in some respects better than new as
exemplified by the beautifully refinished wooden bed.
From a collector standpoint, nothing beats a vintage Chevrolet C-10
short bed, other than one with its original factory V8. This isn’t
some salvage truck with a junkyard replacement engine, but a true,
collector-quality truck you can use daily. If you’re going to get a
vintage pickup, get an authentic one with high, intrinsic value. You
will never regret it.
