There are plenty of things Michael Jordan wants you to remember about his career and life, especially since he’s arguably the greatest basketballer to ever play the game. Starting in his college days under coach Dean Smith, Jordan was an NCAA Champion in 1982 and both the ACC and National Player of the Year in 1984, and was selected third overall that year’s NBA Draft. In 15 pro seasons under coaches Doug Collins and Phil Jackson, Jordan earned 14 All-Star selections, five MVP awards, and six NBA Championships - winning the Finals MVP honor in each one of those victorious years. He was also Rookie of the Year in 1985, a 10-time scoring champion, and a three-time steals leader who has had his No. 23 jersey retired by the University of North Carolina, the Chicago Bulls, and the Miami Heat - even though he never played for the Florida team. He finished his career with 32,292 points (fourth all time), 6,672 rebounds, 5,633 assists, and 2,514 steals (third all time).
Although many people consider him the best, this doesn’t mean MJ was perfect. Like all human beings, he had his flaws both on and off the court. And since he was always in the spotlight, unfortunately so were most of his flubs, falters, and failures. We’re not saying the guy lives with regrets (nobody should), but in a perfect world, he’d much rather you remember him for his achievements and highlights rather than his lowlights. Here are 15 things Michael Jordan wants you to forget.
