We return to a familiar place, the Kinney Family Earthship in southern Alberta, to see how a passive solar heated home holds up in the dark, cold Canadian prairie winter. This Earthship harvests it's own rainwater, treats its own wastewater, produces its own solar electricity and grows its own food. It's an off-grid radically sustainable home made out of recycled tires, cans and other materials and buffeted by the Earth on three sides. You may be able to survive the apocalypse in this home, but can it withstand the cold, Canadian prairie winter where temperatures dip to -30 degrees celsius? Find out as we revisit the Kinney family Earthship on a cold, cloudy day in January. See blog, photos and podcast: http://www.greenenergyfutures.ca/episode/earthship-revisited
