Some countries have existed for thousands of years and it would not be realistic to have a modern world without them. But some countries are more debatable. It's hard to know if nations like Kosovo and Belgium should exist, with compelling arguments on both sides. A lot of countries were created by now fallen empires as diplomatic tools. But as the peoples surrounding them found out, the legacy of such maneuvers can by far outlive the civilization that arranged them.
