Vaccination peak! COVID vaccine centre on Europe"s highest mountain welcomes locals and tourists

The highest COVID-19 vaccination centre in Russia opened in Kabardino-Balkaria at the foot of Mount Elbrus, as seen on Monday.

The centre located at an altitude of 2,300 meters started receiving patients in the Azau Glade ski resort on July 11.

According to local authorities, both locals and tourists can come to get their shots against COVID-19.

“Most often locals come to us. Because most of the tourists who come here are already vaccinated. But there are those who are not vaccinated, they apply, find out, ask. If there are those who wish, we vaccinate them,” said general practitioner Kaisyn Kuchmezov.

Doctors could be seen measuring patients’ temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

Vaccine doses are delivered to the mobile point every day in special portable refrigerators.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 26,159 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Kabardino-Balkaria, with 24,330 patients already recovered.
