A video filmed from the Grace Building showed black smoke plumes rising near Times Square, Manhattan, on Monday.

According to the local fire department, a blaze broke out on the 10th floor of a 49-storey building under construction at 10:30 local time (15:30GMT).

20 units containing 78 firefighters managed to quell the flames by 11:30 local time (16:30GMT).
