USA: Hurricane Ida turns New Orleans buildings into rubble

Brick buildings were reduced to rubble and covered the streets of downtown New Orleans on Monday after Hurricane Ida hit the city on Sunday.
Damaged structures and fallen traffic lights could be seen lying across roads and blocking traffic.
The storm was classed as a Category Four hurricane when it made landfall in Grand Isle, Louisiana. By Sunday evening, nearly all of New Orleans was without power.
According to the weather forecast, the storm will move, bringing probable heavy rainfall and tornadoes, to Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, towards central Tennessee by Tuesday.
While massive rescue efforts are underway, US President Biden said that the storm’s death toll, currently standing at one person, ‘is likely to grow.’
