A Russian firefighting plane crashed in a mountainous area near the city of Adana, in southern Turkey, on Saturday. All the eight crew members and emergency workers aboard died in the crash, according to Russia’s defence ministry.

Five Russian and three Turkish citizens were among the crew.

Footage shows the crash site in the mountains smeared in black and an emergency vehicle from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) rushing to the area.

The amphibious Beriev Be-200 crashed during a firefighting mission as Turkey battles dozens of active wildfires. An investigation is ongoing.
