Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano began erupting late on 20 December.

The eruption started after a 4.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Hilo.

Lava continues to fill Halemaʻumaʻu as volcanic gas and glass travels downwind.

The volcano last erupted in 2018 destroying hundreds of homes.
