Environmental activists protested the ongoing exploration for oil and gas off the Wild Coast in Cape Town on Sunday.

Tens of environmental activists gathered along the beach road, with many holding signs calling for a boycott against oil giant Shell.

The oil giant plans to use seismic waves emitted by air cannons on ships to detect possible seabed resources. Economists argue that this procedure will affect the behaviour and reproduction of whales and other creatures in the sea that rely heavily on their sense of hearing.
