Thousands flocked to Baghdad’s Tahrir Square to mark the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The military generals were killed by a US drone strike, near Baghdad, in January 2020.

Protesters marched along the motorway leading to Baghdad’s airport, near where the strike took place.

Muslim leaders addressed crowds demanding US forces to withdraw from the country.
