According to Ukrainian authorities, a fire broke out at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Energodar, Ukraine ‘following shelling’ on Friday. It was successfully put out.

‘Overnight a projectile hit a building within the plant site. This building is not part of reactors. This cause a localised fire which was extinguished. All the safety systems of the six reactors at the plant were not affected’, - said Rafael Mariano Grossi, IAEA Director General.

Ukraine’s nuclear watchdog has informed that no change in radiation levels has been detected.

The Russian forces took control of the town of Energodar on Feb 28.
