The pilots of the Indian Air Force took part in the second day of the XV International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021 air show in the Moscow region’s Zhukovsky airfield on Wednesday.
Indian pilots showcased various stunts on HAL Dhruv helicopters, painted in bright colours, bearing a stylised peacock. The bird refers to the Sanskrit name of the aerobatic team, Sarang, which means peacock.
The helicopters manufactured by the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) enterprise demonstrated complex aerobatics with smoke generators.
The visitors also enjoyed the performance of Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters, Ka-52 attack helicopters, Il-114 aircraft, MiG-35 fighter and others. Aerobatic teams such as ‘The Swifts’ and ‘Russian Falcons’ were also seen roaring in the sky.
MAKS 2021 is being held from July 20 to 25 at the airfield in Zhukovsky and exhibits the latest in aerospace and defence technology. MAKS plays host to dozens of overseas manufacturers, which this year include Airbus, Boeing, De Havilland Canada, and Viking Air.
