One third of Pakistan is now underwater, officials say, as relentless flooding continues to claim lives and destroy communities.

More than 1,150 people have been killed since the abnormal monsoon rains started in June, and hundreds more have been injured or displaced.

Although the deluge stopped three days ago, rescue teams are still struggling to evacuate thousands of stranded people to safety.

The floodwaters have flattened entire towns and swept away the homes of thousands of people who are now living in the open, unable to find shelter.
