Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called upon parents to ensure their children are vaccinated as Omicron spreads through the country, Jerusalem, Sunday.
Bennett also praised Israel on their decision three weeks ago to close the country to foreign travelers which he say slowed the spread of the Omicron variant.
“Omicron is already in our country. From the Knesset to kindergartens, it is spreading fast. The numbers aren’t high yet but this variant is highly contagious, doubles every two-three days as we have seen over the world. We can say that the fifth wave has begun,” Bennett said.
Bennett asked parents to ensure that they receive their booster shot and to ensure their children are also vaccinated against the virus. “A protected parent that is vaccinated with 3 doses must also protect his children. Don’t leave your children exposed to the Omicron that’s arriving,” the prime minister said.
The prime minister added that the latest developments show that the fifth wave of the virus has started in the country.
