‘Historic St Petersburg Factory Engulfed By MASSIVE Fire’

A firefighter died and two were seriously hurt while combatting a huge fire in a Russian factory on Monday.

Six floors of the historic Nevskaya Manufaktura in St Petersburg were engulfed in flames and strong winds pushed huge black smoke clouds over the city.

Three hundred firefighters fought to extinguish the fire which blew off most of the roof according to emergency services.

Forty people were evacuated from the iconic 19th century factory, still used in part to make fabric.

The reason for the blaze is under investigation.
