‘Efforts to Move Cargo Ship Blocking Egypt’s Suez Canal Continue’

Efforts to move a skyscraper-sized cargo ship wedged across Egypt’s Suez Canal continued on Thursday.

At least 150 other vessels needing to pass through the crucial waterway idled waiting for the obstruction to clear.

It’s estimated the blockage could be costing global trade almost $10 billion a day.

Attempts to free the ship using dredgers, digging and the aid of high tides have yet to push the container vessel aside.

The Ever Given, a Panama-flagged ship that carries cargo between Asia and Europe, grounded on Tuesday.

According to reports, the vessel ran into trouble when it was overcome by strong winds entering the Suez Canal.
