Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko addressed soldiers taking part in the Russian-Belarusian strategic drills ‘Zapad-2021’ in Obuz-Lesnovsky on Sunday.

He said the exercises “confirmed the high readiness of the armies” of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan “to act together to ensure their sovereignty and independence.”

“Let there be no doubt that we - the Belarusians, Russians, Kazakhs, and citizens of other CSTO member states - are ready to do everything to preserve regional security and peace in our homeland,” Lukashenko concluded.

War games ‘Zapad-2021’ of the Russian and Belarus armed forces are being held on September 10-16 at nine training grounds in both countries.

More than 800 pieces of equipment and nearly 200 thousand personnel are set to take part in the joint exercises.
