Dramatic Moment as Rare Giraffe is Rescued From Flooded Island Surrounded by Crocodiles

Kenya Wildlife Service joined forces with a charity to rescue a giraffe stranded on a flooded island.

They coaxed the 16-foot giraffe onto a raft and took the animal to a protected reserve.

The group intends to rescue another seven giraffes still trapped on the island in the coming weeks.

There are fewer than 3,000 of the critically endangered Nubian Giraffe left in the wild.

The barge, built by the local community, is designed specifically to carry these tall creatures.
