‘Deadly Air Strikes in Syria See Tensions Flare Between Russia and Turkey’

Air strikes in northwest Syria near the Turkish border have killed at least one person and set several trucks on fire, opposition activists and a paramedic group said Monday.

The late Sunday attacks - claimed to have been carried out by Russian warplanes - angered Turkey after it had asked Russia to secure an immediate end to such strikes.

Turkish-backed opposition forces have taken control of parts of Aleppo province and are under near-constant bombardment from government troops with Russian air support.

Turkey and Russia support rival parties in Syria’s decade long conflict.
