The CSO-2 satellite was successfully deployed approximately 59 minutes after being launched by a Soyuz ST-A launch vehicle from the Soyuz Launch Complex (ELS) in Sinnamary, French Guiana, on 29 December 2020, at 16:42:07 UTC (13:42:07 local time). The CSO-2 satellite (3562 kg) was placed in a Sun-synchronous orbit at ~480 km from the Earth. CSO-2 is the second satellite of the Optical Space Component (CSO – Composante Spatiale Optique) program, a constellation of three satellites dedicated to Earth observation for defense and security.
