Criciúma Bank Heist: Armed Robbers Launch Assault on Brazilian City

Dozens of armed criminals have mounted a violent assault on the Brazilian city of Criciúma.

The gang took control of the streets and robbed a local bank, occupying the city for roughly two hours after the attack was launched at around midnight (local time).

Dramatic footage shows locals rushing to grab some of the cash the attackers scattered across a street.

The band of about 30 criminals in 10 cars strategically blocked access points to the city to prevent police reinforcements from responding.

Two people, a security guard and a military police officer, were wounded in the heist.

According to local reports no arrests have yet been made.
