China: Fans of Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu pack Beijing street as Winter Games near end​

Hundreds of fans flocked to Beijing’s Capital Indoor Stadium to express their love and admiration for Japanese figure skating star Yuzuru Hanyu, as he participated at the skating gala on Sunday.

Beijing locals could be seen holding Winnie the Pooh toys and supportive banners, as the 27-year-old finished his 2022 Winter Olympics journey without a medal.

“I am a fan of Yuzuru, I hope he can feel our enthusiasm. He has been in a low mood after the competition a few days ago, maybe he didn’t achieve perfection in his mind,” one supporter said.
“I hope he can see how many people like and support him,” the fan continued.

The famous two-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu came in fourth during the short programme in the men’s figure skating last week.

The Winter Games will come to an end on Sunday with an official closing ceremony.
