It’s been 35 years since the disaster that threatened to plunge Europe into nuclear fallout.

On the 26 April 1986, Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station exploded, sending deadly clouds of radiation miles into the air.

But now the site of the worst nuclear disaster in history has become a top pick for tourists.

Tours of the exclusion zone are opening Chernobyl and the nearby abandoned town of Pripyat to the world.

While areas where the radiation level is high are still restricted, tourists are getting to see the ghost town up close in all its dilapidation.
