Car Plows Into Crowd at New York Protest Injuring Six

A BMW drove into a crowd of about 50 people at a protest on Friday afternoon in Manhattan injuring several. Six people were taken to local hospitals with no life-threatening injuries.
The driver has been taken into custody while an investigation is underway. The circumstances of what caused the car to go into the protest are unclear. The woman driving was reportedly surrounded by protesters, panicked, and drove forward into the crowd to get away, according to local media reports citing the police.
Protesters were marching in support of immigration detainees in New Jersey who are currently on a month-long hunger strike.
