This is the moment the ceiling of a Taiwanese sports centre collapsed on unsuspecting athletes during a violent earthquake.

Taiwan’s fire department confirmed that one person was killed and 146 were hurt when the magnitude 7.2 quake struck.

Several people were trapped in their homes and stores for hours before rescue services managed to save them.
